Maan-Samman Diwas 
“Let us honour our elders; this is the pride of our culture and our nation.”
Keeping alive the Vedic message of “Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava, Atithi Devo Bhava” with the objective of nurturing respect, reverence and gratitude towards senior citizens among the younger generation, Maan-Samman Diwas was organised by teachers and students of DAV Model School, Sector 15,Chandigarh under the aegis of the Arya Yuva Samaj and blessings of Arya Ratna, Padma Shri Dr. Poonam Suri , President, Arya Pratinidhi Sabha and D.A.V. College Managing Committee, New Delhi,
On the occasion of Maan-Samman Diwas, a 21-Kundiyan Yajna was performed with lot of religious piety in honour of the elderly. It was attended by Sh Ramesh Chandra Jeevan , Vice-Chairman of D.A.V. Model School, Sector-15-A, Chandigarh, and President, Arya Pratinidhi Up-Sabha, Chandigarh,  Mrs. Anuja Sharma, Principal of the school along with parents, grandparents and maternal grandparents .The enthusiastic participation of parents of students from Pre-Nursery to Class II, along with their children, transformed the programme into a beautiful bridge of values, affection and respect between generations.
Acharya Ramesh Shastri, Dharma Acharya of the school, conducted the Yajna and highlighted the significance of Pitri Yajna in the Vedic tradition. as integral to Indian culture.
Students from Classes V and VI, eloquently chanted Vedic mantras. Their participation deeply impressed the parents and senior citizens present on the occasion.
The young students also presented a delightful dance performance dedicated to their parents, grandparents and maternal grandparents.
A health check-up camp was also organised in collaboration with Rotary Club, Chandigarh for parents and senior citizens. Various health parameters, including blood sugar and blood pressure, were checked. Free medicines were also distributed by the school.
Congratulating the organisers and appreciating the participating students for the successful conduct of the programme, Vice Chairman of the School, Sh Ramesh Chandra Jeevan extended his best wishes to all the participants. Mrs. Anuja Sharma, Principal, expressed her gratitude to the senior citizens, parents, teachers and students for their wholehearted participation.
The programme concluded with Shanti Path and distribution of Prasad, followed by refreshments for all the guests and senior citizens.
The celebration of Maan-Samman Diwas was not merely an event but a meaningful effort to strengthen the message of “Respect for elders is the identity of a family” and to transmit the rich values and traditions of Indian culture to the younger generation.
