Mother’s Day was celebrated with great warmth and enthusiasm at DAV Model School to honour and appreciate the unconditional love, care and dedication of mothers.The celebration began with the warm welcome of mothers by applying tilak, which created a respectful and festive atmosphere. To make the occasion more special, a surprise activity titled “Tiny Mirrors, Big Smiles” was arranged, where mothers were given tiny mirrors that brought happiness and smiles to their faces.The celebration also included a creative activity session called “Creative Expressions with Mothers,” where mothers learned and participated in making beautiful photo frames and coasters. The activity encouraged creativity, bonding and joyful participation.Overall, the celebration was a great success. The event created a joyful atmosphere, strengthened relationships and gave mothers a memorable experience filled with love, appreciation and creativity.

Inter-House Basketball Match

An Inter-House Basketball Match for boys and girls categories was organized at DAV Model School with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The event witnessed active participation from students representing different houses, showcasing their skills, teamwork and competitive spirit.
The match began with great excitement as players demonstrated excellent coordination, agility and discipline on the court. Each house team played with determination and displayed commendable effort throughout the game.
The event focused not only on competition but also on promoting values such as teamwork, sportsmanship and healthy competition among students. The players exhibited respect for rules and fair play, making the match a memorable experience for all.
The event concluded successfully, leaving behind a spirit of enthusiasm and encouraging students to actively participate in sports and physical activities in the future
 
Orientation Session 
 
A discussion and orientation session under the regular feature of Saibhagita was held on May 7, 2026 in the school campus. The session was attended by the parents of Class VIII students.
The orientation highlighted the transition from traditional rote learning to competency-based education. Parents were informed that the focus is now on developing conceptual clarity, critical thinking and the practical application of knowledge rather than memorization
Another important highlight of the session was Kaushal Bodh, which has been introduced as a compulsory skill-based subject. The aim is to enhance practical knowledge, creativity, communication and life skills among students.
Furthermore, emphasis was laid on the new learning methodology, which will be more activity-based and concept-oriented rather than dependent on rote learning.
The orientation session proved to be informative and beneficial for parents, helping them understand the school’s progressive educational initiatives and the overall development approach for students.

The Orientation Session for the pre-primary wing at DAV Model School was conducted to familiarize parents with the school’s environment, curriculum and overall functioning, while fostering a strong school-parent partnership for the holistic development of children.
The session began with a warm welcome, creating a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Parents were given an overview of the curriculum, which integrates academics with play-based learning to develop language, numeracy, creativity and environmental awareness.
Emphasis was laid on the holistic development of students, focusing on their intellectual, emotional, social and physical growth. The teaching methodology highlighted activity-based and experiential learning through play-way and interactive methods.
Parents were informed about daily routines, school guidelines, uniform and transport facilities, ensuring clarity on expectations and safety measures. The assessment system was explained as continuous and observation-based, promoting stress-free learning.

Labour Day

The NSS volunteers celebrated Labour Day with great enthusiasm and deep respect, making the occasion truly meaningful. The programme commenced with volunteers expressing their thoughts on the significance of Labour Day through inspiring speeches, heartfelt poetry recitations and a motivational song that beautifully emphasized the dignity of labour.A special highlight of the celebration was the warm welcome extended to the supporting staff, who were invited onto the stage as guests of honour. As a token of gratitude for their invaluable services, the volunteers presented them with self-made badges and conveyed their sincere appreciation through a heartfelt vote of thanks.The celebration concluded on a cheerful note, with volunteers offering refreshments to the supporting staff, spreading smiles and a spirit of appreciation all around

Visit to the Rose Garden

Our little learners had a joyful and refreshing visit to the Rose Garden. The children were excited to explore the beautiful garden filled with colorful roses of different varieties and fragrances.The visit was not only fun but also educational, as it helped the children learn about nature, flowers, and the environment in a real-life setting.
All the fallen leaves were collected by the children to clean our planet Earth . They enjoyed circle time, explored nature during a walk, and had fun running around in the fresh, pleasant weather.It was truly a memorable and enriching experience for our young learners
 
ORIENTATION SESSION FOR CLASS X

DAV Model School organized an orientation session for the parents of Class X students to acquaint parents with the latest changes in the academic structure and evaluation system. The session aimed to create awareness about the shift in teaching-learning practices and to strengthen the partnership between school and parents for the overall development of students.
The orientation highlighted the transition from traditional rote learning to competency-based education. Parents were informed that the focus is now on developing conceptual clarity, critical thinking and the practical application of knowledge rather than memorization.
Parents were introduced to holistic assessment, which evaluates students academic performance along with skills, behavior and overall development. Another important aspect discussed was the typology of questions in the new examination pattern. Parents were introduced to different formats such as case-based questions, assertion and reasoning, source-based questions and application-oriented problems.
The orientation also provided information about skill subjects such as Information Technology, Marketing and Sales and Artificial Intelligence was shared to highlight career-oriented learning opportunities.
Parents were urged to regularly monitor their child’s studies, ensure timely completion of work and stay actively involved, while maintaining communication with teachers and participating in school activities.
The orientation program successfully guided parents about the evolving education system and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in nurturing responsible, skilled and confident learners
 
 
Inter School Fest -The Ripples 10

The Ripples- 10 , an inter school Fest is a regular feature that was launched in 2016 on the threshold of 50 Golden Celebration’s of DAV Model School, Sector 15 ,Chandigarh manifesting the connectivity of the school horizontally with the school’s of Tricity , thereby aiming to attain long lasting effect on holistic development of the students  . As an earnest endeavour , the Inter School Fest - Ripples-10 aims to chisel life skills, communication skills , creative and critical potentialities of young students who are the future legacy makers.This year ,The Ripples -10  was organised to commemorate the theme of, “ Healthy mind, Healthy body - Addiction Free India ". 600 students from 36 schools.of Tricity and adjoining cities participated with great fervour.There were 8 events in total- poster making , Screen Master, Scientific Temperament , Poetry recitation,  , Star chef, Quiz ,Fancy dress and Book Wizard,.The Principal of the school, Mrs Anuja Sharma congratulated the participants and motivated them to excel for holistic development. The winners were awarded certificates and mementos for their commendable performance.
 
 
World Book Day: A Step Towards Lifelong Reading

DAV Model School marked World Book Day with immense joy and participation. The event was organized by the Readers Club and Etiquette Club to inspire a love for reading among students and highlight the value of books in our lives.The celebration began with a delightful presentation by the tiny tots, who confidently recited rhymes and captured everyone’s attention with their innocence and charm. Their performances set a cheerful tone for the rest of the event.A segment on the importance of books emphasized how reading helps in gaining knowledge, improving language skills, and expanding imagination. Students were encouraged to develop a regular reading habit and explore different genres.The major highlight of the celebration was the sharing of experiences by students about the books they had read. They spoke about their favorite stories, characters and the lessons they learned, inspiring others to read more.The celebration turned out to be  a meaningful and enjoyable experience that reinforced the value of books and reading in our daily lives.

Mr. Pawan Solanki, founder and CEO of AUSMUN and a distinguished TEDx speaker, visited our school and delivered an insightful address to the student body. His session centered on the emerging opportunities and future prospects available to young individuals in today's rapidly evolving global landscape. Mr. Solanki also provided comprehensive guidance on the growing scope of international education and careers, shedding light on the numerous advantages of pursuing opportunities abroad and the doors that a global exposure can open for aspiring students

आज दिनांक 22-04-2026 को डी.ए.वी. मॉडल स्कूल सेक्टर-15-ए चण्डीगढ़ में विद्यालय परिसर में पृथ्वी दिवस (Earth Day) के उपलक्ष्य में एक विशेष कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। इस अवसर का उद्देश्य विद्यार्थियों में पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रति जागरूकता उत्पन्न करना तथा उन्हें प्रकृति के प्रति अपनी जिम्मेदारियों का बोध कराना था।कार्यक्रम का आयोजन विद्यालय की प्राचार्या श्रीमती अनुजा शर्मा जी के निर्देशन में सम्पन्न हुआ। कार्यक्रम का शुभारम्भ प्रार्थना एवं स्वागत उद्बोधन के साथ हुआ। इसके पश्चात विद्यार्थियों द्वारा पर्यावरण संरक्षण हेतु इस शुभ अवसर पर कक्षा-नौवीं के विद्यार्थियों के साथ यज्ञीय कार्य भी सम्पन्न हुआ। यजमान के रूप में कक्षा-इन्चार्ज सुश्री समीता बहल उपस्थित रहीं तथा उद्गाता के रूप में कक्षा-नौवीं के विद्यार्थियों ने वैदिक मंत्रोच्चारण कर वातावरण को पवित्र एवं आध्यात्मिक बना दिया।इस अवसर पर आचार्य रमेश शास्त्री जी ने अपने विचार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि धरती को सुरक्षित रखने में यज्ञ सर्वोत्तम साधन है। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि चार प्रकार के प्रदूषण—वायु प्रदूषण, जल प्रदूषण, मिट्टी प्रदूषण एवं ध्वनि प्रदूषण—वर्तमान समय की प्रमुख समस्याएँ हैं, और इन सभी से बचाव के लिए यज्ञीय कार्य अत्युत्तम माध्यम है।
प्राचार्या श्रीमती अनुजा शर्मा जी ने संदेश संप्रेषित किया है कि पृथ्वी हमारा एकमात्र घर है, जिसकी सुरक्षा करना हम सभी का कर्तव्य है। उन्होंने विद्यार्थियों को अधिक से अधिक वृक्षारोपण करने, प्लास्टिक का उपयोग कम करने तथा जल संरक्षण जैसे उपाय अपनाने के लिए प्रेरित किया।अंत में प्रसाद वितरण, शान्तिपाठ एवं जयघोष के साथ कार्यक्रम सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न हुआ।
 
World Earth Day

World Earth Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at DAV Model School. The event was organized collaboratively by Eco Club and NSS volunteers, aiming to promote environmental consciousness among students and staff.In the junior wing, students participated in a discussion about the importance of Earth Day and learned simple ways to protect the environment. They also engaged in creative activities such as making Earth models using clay and a craft activity where they created circle paintings of Earth using blue and green colors with pom-poms, decorated with glittery facial features.Furthermore, members of Eco Club presented speeches and plays focusing on environmental concerns and the importance of conservation. This was followed by an informative quiz conducted by NSS volunteers to assess awareness of students. The event concluded with an inspiring address by the Principal Mrs. Anuja Sharma, who encouraged students to take responsibility for protecting the environment.Overall, the celebration was informative, creative and impactful, leaving students motivated to contribute towards a greener and healthier planet.
Pedaling for the Planet – Earth Day Cyclothon
 
To mark the occasion of World Earth Day on 22 April 2026, the Eco Club of DAV Model School, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Youth Innovative Society, organized a Cyclothon to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students.Students from Classes VII to XII actively participated in the event with great enthusiasm. The Cyclothon commenced at 7:00 AM from Chandigarh Bird Park. The event witnessed energetic participation as students cycled together, spreading the message of eco-friendly transportation and the importance of reducing carbon emissions.The initiative aimed to encourage students to adopt a healthy lifestyle while contributing to environmental conservation. The Cyclothon concluded successfully, leaving participants inspired and motivated to take active steps towards protecting the environment. Such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing responsible citizens committed to building a greener and more sustainable future.
 
 
 
Orientation session for newly selected Student Council - 20.4.2026
D.A.V. Model School organised an orientation session to welcome the newly selected Student Council for the academic session 2026–27. The event aimed to introduce council members to their roles, responsibilities and duties, while also emphasizing the importance of leadership and accountability within the school community. Principal Mrs. Anuja Sharma addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the Student Council. The address focussed on how council members are expected to uphold discipline, promote cooperation and serve as role models for their peers. She also emphasised on the responsibilities associated with different positions and encouraged students to carry out their duties with sincerity and dedication.A total of 100 students were selected for the council through a rigorous and inclusive selection process. The selection was carried out under three categories: self-nomination, proposed nomination and nominations recommended by educators. This ensured that deserving and capable students from diverse backgrounds were given the opportunity to take on leadership roles.During the session, the structure of the Student Council was explained in detail, including the four main categories within which responsibilities are distributed. Each category plays a crucial role in maintaining discipline, organizing events, supporting academic and co-curricular activities, and fostering a positive school environment.Principal Mrs. Anuja Sharma congratulated all the selected students and motivated them to perform their duties with integrity, commitment and enthusiasm. Recognition Day was organised in the portals of DAV15 to felicitate the meritorious students of Classes 3 to 11 These students scored commendable top three positions in Annual Examination (Session 2025-26)The Vice Chairman, Principal Sh  R. C. Jeewan, Prof . Dr Virendra Alankar ,Principal Mrs Anuja Sharma and the stakeholders applauded the students for their great success and motivated them to always achieve and excel.The students received mementoes and certificates. The event ended on a jubilant mood.
 
Himachal Day
D.A.V. Model School proudly celebrated Himachal Day on April 15 ,2026 with great zeal and enthusiasm, showcasing the rich traditions, values and cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh. The event aimed to instil a sense of respect and appreciation for the diverse cultural fabric of India among students.The celebration featured vibrant performances, with students dressed in traditional attire presenting the famous Natti dance, a folk dance that reflects the spirit and joy of Himachali culture. The rhythmic movements and colourful costumes created a lively atmosphere, captivating the audience.Various cultural performances were organized, including folk songs, skits and presentations highlighting the customs, lifestyle and values of Himachal Pradesh. Tribute to the Architect of the Indian Constitution
D.A.V.  Model School celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti with great enthusiasm and respect, in collaboration with NCC, NSS and the Girl Guide unit. The event was organized to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Father of the Constitution of India, and to honor his invaluable contributions to the nation.The celebration began with students paying tribute and reflecting on his ideals of equality, justice and education. Students actively participated by delivering speeches highlighting his life, struggles, and achievements. Some students also recited inspiring poems dedicated to his vision and legacy.The atmosphere was filled with energy as students raised powerful slogans promoting unity, equality, and social justice, echoing the values Dr. Ambedkar stood for. Celebrating Harvest and Heritage
A special assembly on the occasion of Vaisakhi was organized at DAV Model School by Bhagat Singh House under the theme “Harvesting Hope, Honouring Heritage.” The event aimed to celebrate the cultural richness and significance of the festival.The celebration began with a warm welcome, setting a joyful and festive tone for the celebration. Students actively participated and showcased their talents through beautiful poem recitations that reflected the spirit of Vaisakhi and patriotism. The event was further enriched by heartfelt speeches delivered by the students, where they highlighted the significance of Vaisakhi as a harvest festival and expressed its cultural and historical importance in India.The celebration became more vibrant with an energetic dance performance, which added colour and enthusiasm to the event.A special segment of the celebration was dedicated to the tiny tots, who added innocence and vibrancy to the occasion. Dressed in colourful Punjabi attire, they looked delightful and were introduced to the significance of Vaisakhi in a simple and engaging manner.To further enhance their creativity and involvement, fun-filled activities such as colouring worksheets based on Vaisakhi themes and craft work like making paper kites were organized. A Promising Start to the House Calendar
The first house activity of D.A.V. Model School on April 10, 2026 marked an energetic and inspiring beginning to the academic year. The event was thoughtfully organized to introduce students to the house system and infuse a sense of belonging, unity and healthy competition among them.The day commenced with a comprehensive introduction to the different houses. Students were oriented about their respective houses, including their names, mottos, goals and themes for the year. Self-defence training session
A self-defence training session was conducted on April 10, 2026 at DAV Model School by two expert trainers from the police department. The session was organized with the objective of creating awareness about personal safety and equipping them with basic self-defense skills.The trainers delivered an informative lecture highlighting the importance of self-defence in daily life. They explained how students can protect themselves in challenging and potentially dangerous situations. Various practical techniques were demonstrated in an effective and easy manner, including live demonstrations on how to respond quickly and safely during emergencies.The students participated actively and showed great enthusiasm throughout the session. Educational Excursion to Panjab University-Indian Army exhibition
An educational excursion was organized on April 9, 2026 for the students of D.A.V. Model School to Panjab University, aimed at providing them with practical exposure beyond the classroom. The visit proved to be both informative and engaging. During the visit, students attended an Indian Army exhibition organized by the NCC. Various weapons and defence equipment were displayed, giving students a closer look at the tools used by the armed forces. Soldiers in uniform interacted warmly with the students, shared their experiences, and explained different aspects of their duties and equipment. A major highlight of the visit was the drone demonstration. Students were introduced to different types of drones and learned about their significant role in modern defence systems. The session helped them understand how advanced technology is being used in the armed forces for surveillance and security purposes.The excursion proved to be highly enriching, as it not only enhanced the students knowledge about the Indian Army and advanced defence technology but also inspired a sense of respect, discipline and curiosity towards national service
 
Inter-School Quiz
On April 9, 2026, a quiz was held at D.A.V. Model School for the 2nd edition of Kushagra: An Inter-School Quiz, organized by the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Chandigarh Campus.The session was conducted by renowned quizmaster Mr. Arindam Bhattacharya (Alumnus, NMIMS Mumbai) along with his team from Cradle Solutions. Principal Mrs. Anuja Sharma addressed the gathering and extended a warm welcome to the quizmaster Mr. Arindam Bhattacharya and his team. She highlighted the importance of quizzes in enhancing student’s knowledge, critical thinking and confidence. She encouraged students to actively participate in such competitions and appreciated NMIMS Chandigarh for organizing this event. The quizmaster, Mr. Arindam Bhattacharya, began the session by explaining how students can prepare effectively for quizzes. He discussed interesting aspects of quiz and provided insights into how quiz competitions are conducted.During the session, he shared preparation strategies in a very engaging way by conducting small interactive quizzes. Students actively participated and responded enthusiastically to the questions asked, providing correct answers and sharing their ideas. The hands-on approach made the session both informative and enjoyable, encouraging students to develop confidence and improve their knowledge continuously.Overall, the session was informative and engaging, inspiring students to develop a habit of continuous learning and active participation in quizzes.
 
“Celebrating Health, Embracing Wellness: World Health Day 2026"
World Health Day was celebrated at D.A.V. Model School on April 7, 2026 by the Health Ambassadors and NSS Unit of the school with great enthusiasm. The assembly was organized with the aim of creating awareness about the importance of healthy eating and encouraging students to adopt a healthy lifestyle.The programme focused on the theme “Balanced Diet and Good Health.” It aimed to spread awareness among students about maintaining good health through proper nutrition and healthy habits.The assembly began with an introduction highlighting the significance of World Health Day. The Health Ambassadors highlighted the importance of healthy eating and a balanced diet, encouraging students to make mindful food choices in their daily lives. This was followed by an informative speech delivered by an NSS volunteer emphasizing the importance of good health in a student’s life and how it directly impacts academic performance and overall well-being.The highlight of the programme was an engaging debate conducted by NSS volunteers on the topic “Good Health vs Bad Health Habits.” The participants confidently presented their views, discussing the harmful effects of unhealthy eating and the benefits of maintaining a balanced diet.The event successfully created awareness among students about the need for healthy eating habits. Menstrual Hygiene Workshop
On 6 April 2026, a menstrual hygiene workshop was conducted at D.A.V. Model School for classes VI, VII and VIII. The session aimed to spread awareness and educate students about menstruation and the importance of maintaining proper hygiene during periods.The session began with a simple explanation of menstruation as a natural biological process. The structure and function of the female reproductive system were explained. Emphasis was placed on breaking myths and removing stigma surrounding menstruation.Students were guided on maintaining cleanliness during periods, including regular changing of sanitary products and the importance of using clean and safe materials. The session also highlighted various menstrual products and how to use them correctly. Special attention was given to the health risks of poor hygiene, such as infections and discomfort, helping students understand why proper care is essential.Overall, the workshop was effective in achieving its objectives and contributed to the students health education and well-being. The new academic session 2026–27 at DAV Model School commenced with a special assembly filled with devotion and enthusiasm. Students and teachers gathered to begin the session on a spiritual and motivational note. The program began with a graceful Saraswati Vandana, performed by the students, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati for wisdom and knowledge.This was followed by a sacred hawan, accompanied by the chanting of Vedic mantras, creating a serene and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. The rituals aimed to purify the environment and mark an auspicious beginning to the new session.Adding to the charm of the assembly, Gauri of Class XII captivated the audience with her melodious songs, earning appreciation from all present.Principal Mrs. Anuja Sharma warmly welcomed the students and encouraged them to stay dedicated, disciplined and determined. She also emphasized the importance of values, hard work and participation in both academic and co-curricular activities.The assembly concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, leaving everyone inspired and filled with renewed zeal to make the academic year meaningful, successful and memorable.

D.A.V Model School, Sec 15-A ,welcomed the Tiny Tot for the new Session 2026-2027 with a warm and colourful 2 days Session. These 2 days extended Learning with Joy by the Kindergarten Faculty under the leadership of Principal Anuja Sharma, Fun-filled activities like tattoo making,clicking at selfie corner,gaming,dancing and art work.Nothing better than this could be a treat for our new comers !!
