Van Mahotsava Celebrated with Green Initiatives at DAV Model School, Sector 15A, Chandigarh

Sampada Eco Club of DAV Model School, Sector 15A, Chandigarh celebrated Van Mahotsava with great enthusiasm, reinforcing the message of environmental conservation and sustainable living.

The programme was graced by Rtn. Teena Virk, President, Rotary Chandigarh, whose inspiring support encouraged students to become responsible environmental stewards. Ms. Shriya Sehgal, Director – Youth Services, Rotary Chandigarh, also joined the initiative and motivated the students to actively participate in community-driven environmental programmes.

A special awareness session was conducted by Ms. Smriti Sharma from the Department of Environment, UT Chandigarh, who delivered an insightful talk on environmental conservation and effective waste management practices. She highlighted the importance of reducing plastic waste, practising segregation at source, and adopting eco-friendly habits in daily life.

As a significant step towards sustainable waste management, a Plastic Collection Bin was installed on the school campus. The collected plastic waste will be periodically picked up for recycling, promoting responsible disposal and supporting the circular economy.

The celebration inspired students to pledge their commitment towards protecting nature, reducing plastic pollution, and contributing to a cleaner and greener environment. The event reflected the school's continued dedication to environmental education and community engagement under the guidance of Principal Ms. Anuja Sharma
